Bungalow '23

Bungalow23.com

DIY Bloggers since 2005-08-01

About:

I'm Josh and Bungalow '23 is the restoration and home improvement journal of my 1923 craftsman bungalow in Minneapolis, MN. My home improvement philosophy is equal parts preservationist and progressive. I love push-button light switches and low-VOC paint; original wood windows and water-conserving plumbing fixtures; push-reel lawnmowers and lithium-ion batteries. As a D.I.Y.er, I'm not afraid to try something new once I have the right tools and know-how. I've learned a lot from other D.I.Y.ers over the years and I hope you'll find me a helpful resource as you work to make your own home-new or old-more beautiful, functional, and sustainable.

The Lettered Cottage

DIY Bloggers since 2005-05-01

About:

I'm Layla, and my ''Mr. Right'' is Kevin. We're the Palmers, and we are dream believers. We see every ending as a new beginning, and we prefer dancing on the edge, over ''Dancing with the Stars''. I am a writer/photo stylist and in my free time, I like to go ''junkin'' and work on D.I.Y. projects. Kevin is a musician, and when he's not recording a record or on tour with his band, he's usually fixing something up or tearing something down in our ''little cottage that could''. I guess you could say we're a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll. We've nicknamed our fixer-upper of a house ''The Lettered Cottage'' because of the passion we share for writing and our love of all things lettered. It also seems kind of appropriate that the first letter of each word in its name are ''T'', ''L'' and ''C'' because it's definitely in need of lots of Tender Lovin' Care!  So right now, we're in the process of creating a place that makes our souls smile. One that cultivates creativity and reminds us to seizeevery one of our days . We're documenting our renovation and decoration adventures on our blog TheLetteredCottage.net. We started writing it because, for us, writing is a process of discovery and so is renovating a house. And there's excitement in not knowing what you're going to reveal about yourself, or your surroundings, from one day to the next!

Our Favorite Power Tool
Ah, power tools. Sure they can be intimidating and dangerous, but as long as you exercise extreme caution and invest in a good pair of safety goggles- there's no reason to be afraid of 'em!
